Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

What you say sounds good, but my experience with devotee-made products has

often been that the devotees cheat as much as or more than the karmis

because "You can do anything for Krishna," even cheat other devotees.

If you investigate the matter, I think you will find that the reason

devotees buy Neem toothpaste is not to save the five rupees but because they

do not have confidence in devotee-made products. They are afraid that they

will pay five rupees more to get something not as good as what they would

get on the outside.

How do you expect the devotees to worry about aluminum when the cakes that

are offered to the Deities and served in the temples are made with baking

powder that contains aluminum because it is cheaper than the other kind?

Devotee businesses have a bad reputation among devotees, and for a good

reason. Devotees see that the businesses are often set up fast, use

unskilled workers at starvation wages, sell shoddy products at high prices,

and then fold after someone has either made a nice profit or lost

everything.

So the first thing you have to do is to get the confidence of the devotees.

I am sure that this is the problem.

Your servant,

Umapati Swami
