Guest guest
After a few years, this book has finally been published in English. Originally a German-written doctorate by Protestant theologian Dr. Peter Schmidt of Frankfurt/Oder University, this book has been translated into English language by the common effort of Ramesvara Das and Kamakili Drakuna. In 250 pages, this book offers studies of Srila Prabhupada's education and Vaishnava development in his early years, the Vaishnava and other sources of his ideas about Christianity, and the development of ISKCON's dialogue with other religions, especially Christianity, starting from the early years (not touching the development of that dialogue in the recent years). This is what BOD says about the book: «This book investigates the views of Christianity of Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada (1896-1977), founder of the “International Society for Krishna Consciousness” (ISKCON), a branch of the Bengal Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, commonly known in the West as the “Hare Krishna Movement”. Furthermore it analyses his approach to a fertile interreligious dialog with the Christian faith.» About the author: Dr. phil. Peter Schmidt (*1960) studied Religious Science, Protestant Theology, Biology and Pedagogics. Study trips for the exploration of Hinduism, Buddhism and New Religious Movements led him to India, Nepal, Tibet, Great Britain and the U.S.. In 1998 he took his doctor´s degree in Philosophy at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University at Frankfurt am Main/Germany. He works as a teacher and gives lectures at University.
