A similar question was asked in the "Sanskrit" conference. My answer was: On page 306 Monier-Williams writes that the meaning of "krs" is draw, drag etc. And on page 431 at "na" (with dot below 'n') it says: =nirvrti (invented for the etymology of "krsna").
