Guest guest
Haribol dear devotees. The other day at our brahmacari meeting we were discussing cleanliness. One of the brahmacaries, Bk. Steve, wrote a nice poem. I am sure you'll all enjoy it. Here it is: There once was a bhakta named Dean. He never would keep his room clean. The roaches all knew Just what to do Whenever there hunger was keen Big roach and little roach, came out one day Little roach to big roach began to say “I’m so hungry I could eat you!” often that’s what cockroaches do This is the way that roaches play (Big Roach said) Servant fool, prepare us a stool! Forget the stool I’ll eat the whole fool! All joking aside He said with great pride This tasty talk is making me drool. They made there way towards Deans room Crept under the door and peered through the gloom Good Ol’Dean he’s the bess’ He keeps his room a reckless mess they then perched atop a broken old broom (Little Roach began to sing) Hey, there’s’ Dean sleeping away Isn’t today his cleaning day! Hah Hah Hah just look around Feast your eyes on the filth abound. Thank Govinda! This is where he eats He’s Graciously left us so many treats Cookies, cakes, containers galore Stains on the floor Who could ask for more? Bhakta Dean we do adore To find in the garbage an apple core. Pizza, juice, soda pop Climb up the bottle, straight to the top With my little roach mouth I take a few sips Where tomorrow morning he’ll put his lips. Sunday nights best, to say the least That’s when us roaches have a Sunday Feast. With invitation cards going out all week The room is packed tight, cheek-to-cheek Then, just to thank Dean for a wonderful night Let’s give Ol’Dean a hell of a fright Roaches! Line up for a runners race Lets run across Deans sleeping face Into a crack as he screams “turn on the light!” Out of mind is out of sight. He thinks he’s a Brahman, that’s berserk There are qualities by which Brahmans work. To get Krishna’s lotus feet, cleanliness is a must Be willing to work to collect that dust. Filth is for those who tamo guna approach. I should know, I’M A ROACH So listen close, so it’s understood Clean up the ashram and clean it good Don’t be a Dean, clean up this place Or my friends and me will run on your face!
