Guest guest
Dear Bhakta Deepak, PAMHO. AGTSP! > It CAN mean "forever", but it can also be time-bound since certain > instructions will obviously become impossible to follow after a period of > time . In the case of the J9 letter, its applicabilty would only apply > for the duration of ISKCON's existence which, according to Srila > Prabhupada, is approximately another 9,500 years. The sentence "Temple Presidents may henceforward send recommendation to whichever of these eleven representatives are nearest their temple" obviously does not mean "for the next 9500 years" because these eleven representatives do not live such a long time. It means only "until these eleven representatives are no longer able, willing or required to act as ritviks". Whether other representatives may be added later is another question which is not addressed in the July 9th letter. > > My point is that certain disciples of Srila Prabhupada can accept > > disciples and are authorized to do so. (Of course I cannot say who that > > is because on my low spiritual level I cannot judge it). > > But according to the J9 directive, they were only authorized to accept > disciples ON BEHALF OF Srila Prabhupada, as his ritvik representatives. I did not mean these eleven ritviks. (And I don't exclude anyone of them). I meant that certain disciples of Srila Prabhupada can accept THEIR OWN disciples and are authorized to do so. ys Ramakanta dasa
