Ritvik Philosophy is the Greatest Enemy of our Krishna Consciousness

My Dear Vaisnavas,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

This ritvik philosophy is the greatest enemy of our Krishna consciousness

movement. It must be thoroughly eradicated. It has seeped into the

consciousness, consciously or subsconscicously, of many devotees throughout

the movement. It is a poison that will kill our movement if we do not

strongly defeat it. It has been very cleverly presented just like the

Mayavadi misinterpretation of the Vedas. It is poisoning and misguiding

thousands and thousands of people who are interested in Krishna

consciousness. In the following quote we can see confirmation from Srila

Prabhupada that ritvik philosophy can prevent the Krishna consciousness

movement from spreading:

"The word guru is equally applicable to the vartma-pradarsaka-guru,

siksa-guru and diksa-guru. Unless we accept the principle enunciated by Sri

Caitanya Mahaprabhu (kiba vipra, kiba nyasi, sudra kene naya yei

krsna-tattva-vetta, sei 'guru' haya), this Krsna consciousness movement

cannot spread all over the world."

>>> Ref. VedaBase => Purport to Madhya 8.128

Carefully note how this defeats the ritvik notion that when Srila Prabhpuada

says "Become Guru" that this means only siksa guru. Srila Prabhupada is

clearly stating that the word guru in the kiba vipra verse applies to siksa,

diksa, and vartma-pradarsaka gurus.

The riviks have made a big noise about the word "henceforward" in the July 9

letter citing the dictionary definition. However, Prabhpada's use of the

word carries much more weight than the karmi dictionary. Srila Prabhupada

never personally uses the word "henceforward" in what we have recorded in

the Vedabase. He does however use its synonym "henceforth" in the Teachings

of Lord Caitanya as follows:

"I do not want such things," Narada replied. "However, I do want something

else. If you kindly grant it to me, I shall tell you. Please, henceforth

from tomorrow, whenever you kill an animal, please kill it completely. Don't

leave it half-dead."

>>> Ref. VedaBase => TLC 16: Conclusion of Teachings to Sanatana Gosvami

In the above use of the word henceforth it means "for the time being."

Shortly after that a new system came, Mrgrari was not to kill the animals

at all. This very interestingly parallels the initiation system. For the

time being while Srila Prabhupada was still physically manifest the ritvik

system was functioning. And shortly after that, after his departure, the

Guru Parampara system began to function. The Guru Parampara system is

clearly defined by Srila Prabhupada in the following quotes. Srila

Prabhupada says, "We are interested in preparing acarya." The riviks don't

want to read such quotes which are an anathema (vigorous denunciation) of

their bogus philosophy.

"One who is now the disciple is the next spiritual master." >>> Ref.

VedaBase => Purport to SB 2.9.43

"It is better to become acarya. Because we are interested in preparing

acarya, but the etiquette is, at least for the period the guru is present,

one should not become acarya. Even if he is complete he should not, because

the etiquette is, if somebody comes for becoming initiated, it is the duty

of such person to bring that prospective candidate to his acarya."

>>> Ref. VedaBase => Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila 1.13 -- Mayapur,

April 6, 1975

Hoping this meets you fired up to drive ritvik philosophy off of the face of

the earth,

Your servant,

Sankarshan Das Adhikari

Initiations in ISKCON

Srila Prabhupada did not introduce a permanent ritvik system

Srila Prabhupada very well knew that he did not mention the permanent ritvik

system in his books or lectures. He also knew that it is not mentioned by

sadhu and sastra. And he knew that he gave the instruction to compare the

guru's words with sadhu and sastra. Therefore, as tri-kala-jna, he knew that

in the future his disciples will compare the July 9th letter with his book,

sadhu and sastra, and conclude that the permanent ritvik system is not what

Srila Prabhupada intended.

So if Srila Prabhupada had wanted to indroduce a new initiation system, he

would have stated that in the July 9th letter, or in an accompanying

document. Srila Prabhupada always gave enough information to enable the

correct application of his instructions. He certainly did not operate on the

assumption that his Temple Presidents were all mystic mind readers, and that

he therefore only needed to issue fragmented and incomplete directives which

would later be made sense of telepathically. For example, had Srila

Prabhupada intended the ritvik system to continue on his departure he would

have added the following eight words to the July 9th letter - "This system

will NOT terminate on my departure". A quick look at the letter tells us he

it just says 'henceforward'.
