Guest guest
Yes, that is correct. It is of our understanding and experience that any leader and/or devotee who does not follow, strictly, the discipline (sadhana) of a disciple: daily, early morning, attentive japa, 1-2 hours of reading SP's. books, mangala arotik, going out on Harinam/books/prasad; will not have much success in his leadership and/or advancement. That is because surrender is required by Sri Krsna @ Bg. 18.66; meaning if we do not drown our consciousness in transcendental subject matter, then it will remain engaged in material activities. This is what Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati meant when He said: "After getting up from your sleep, you take your shoes and beat your mind hundred times. This is your first business. And while going to bed, you take a broomstick and beat your mind hundred times. Then you can control your mind. Otherwise it is very difficult." In Bg. 4.11 Sri Krsna says: "as they surrender unto Me--I reward accordingly" Now what is that reward, mentioned? Is it nice gold, good sex, nice followers, Rolex, silk, limousines, first class travel, etc... NO!!!! The reward is the empowerment(just as presently, we are empowered to forget Him)/capacity to always remember and never forget Him; having become expert in accepting what is favorable and rejecting what is unfavorable in remembering Him(Rupa G.). Now that is surrender and such is attained by sadhana (ie. the systematic process by which we do not allow our consciousness, to remain dwelling on vapid, puerile, useless, temporary subject matters). Naturally, it may be inferred, from above, that sentimental attachment to anyone who does not teach/inspire us, by his perfect example, how to surrender(following sadhana), would be quite worthless and a perfect waste of this human form of life. As Srila Prabhupada stated so many times: "we have declared war against Maya" .... and the daily battle is fought with the weapons of sadhana, won with by our full surrender, ending by our admittance into Goloka Vrindavan. Always wishing you all the absolute best; P.H.
