Guest guest
(1) "The July 9th letter does not give any information when the ritvik system was to be terminated. It does not say that it should be continued, neither that it should be terminated". This is an obvious fact according to the dictionary meaning of the words. >From (1) follows that either (2) or (3) below is true, and that neither (2) nor (3) contradicts the July 9th letter: (2) "The ritvik system was to be terminated on Srila Prabhupada's departure." (3) "The ritvik system was to be continued after Srila Prabhupada's departure." (4) "Srila Prabhupada many times quoted Narottama Das Thakur who said 'sadhu-sastra-guru-vakya cittete koriya akya'". You can verify this by searching the Vedabase for "sadhu sastra guru vakya". (5) "Several times Srila Prabhupada explained Narottama Das Thakur's statement in English. For example: 'You have to corroborate whether guru, what guru is speaking, whether it is there in the scripture; what scripture is speaking, whether that is in the character of guru, or in the sadhu, saintly persons, or spiritual master. So you have to always make comparison with three things: sadhu, sastra, guru." (CC Madhya 20.119-121 lecture)'" You can verify this by looking in the Vedabase. Of course you have to apply Srila Prabhupada's statement to itself, that means you have to compare it with sadhu and sastra. Since you already heard or read Narottama Das Thakur's statement (4) before you heard or read Srila Prabhupada's statement, you already compared Srila Prabhupada's statement with sadhu and sastra, and thus corrobated it. To find out if (2) or (3) is correct, we have to follow Srila Prabhupada's instruction (5) how to understand the guru's words. (Anything else is speculation.) So let's do it: (6) "The system where on the guru's departure the disciple becomes the next diksa guru is mentioned by guru, sadhu and sastra". You can verify this by reading Srila Prabhupada's books. (7) "All acaryas in our sampradaya from Madhvacarya on stopped initiating on this planet when they left the planet." This is a historical fact. >From (6) and (7) follows that (2) is correct. (8) "A ritvik system in the physical absence of the guru is not confirmed by sadhu or sastra, and Srila Prabhupada never mentioned such a system in his books or lectures." You can verify this by reading Srila Prabhupada's books and lectures. >From (8) follows that (3) is incorrect. (9) "Srila Prabhupada was authorized to authorize his disciples to become diksa gurus." I assume that no-one has any objection to this. Conclusion: "The ritvik system was to be terminated on Srila Prabhupada's departure." To refute this proof you have to prove that one of the statements (1), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), or (9) is incorrect. ys Ramakanta dasa
