Guest guest
Srila Prabhupada NectarWe can Trick them After a few more days of struggle, I finally decided to take a bus to Akash-Ganga to meet Srila Prabhupada. Alone with Srila Prabhupada in his room, I told him that Tamala Krishna Wasn't giving me any help. Srila Prabhupada said I should tell him that if he didn't give me help I would quit. At the same time I asked Srila Prabhupada about the use of force, as I had seen some devotees shout at the hired workers and even kick them. Srila Prabhupada replied, "We cannot force them, but we can trick them." Then he told a story. A teacher had a student who hated arithmetic. Whenever the teacher would try to tell him about arithmetic, the student would refuse to hear. Finally the teacher devised a plan. He drew three cows and one bull on the board. Then he asked the boy, "if a farmer has three cows and one bull and he gets two more bulls, how many animals will he have? The teacher added the two bulls to the picture. " Then again, if he sells one cow and one bull, how many animals will he have?" Thus the teacher was gradually inducing the boy to learn arithmetic. Suddenly, one of the boy's friends interjected, "Don't you see what is happening? The teacher is teaching you arithmetic!" And the boy responded, "Arithmetic? I hate arithmetic!" He refused to answer any more. Srila Prabhupada told the story to illustrate the fact that some people are just averse to service. And we cannot force them to serve-but we can "trick" or induce them to serve. And everyone will benefit. - From the "Watering the Seed" by HH Giriraja Swami Maharaja Please Chant: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare And Be Happy _________ ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun! http://uk.messenger.
