Guest guest
Bhaktivedanta Leadership Newsletter Men of Character But to surrender unto the lotus feet of the Lord is also not very easy. Such surrender is possible by persons of austerity, cleanliness, mercy and truthfulness. These four principles of advanced civilization were remarkable features in the age of Satya. In that age, every human being was practically a qualified brahmana of the highest order, and in the social orders of life they were all paramahamsas, or the topmost in the renounced order. By cultural standing, the human beings were not at all subjected to the deluding energy. Such strong men of character were competent enough to get away from the clutches of maya. SB 1.17.24 P Editor's Note Srila Prabhupada wanted ISKCON to create men of character. The first requirement is to follow the four regulative principles. ISKCON is making men of character, knowledge, sincerity, and God consciousness. We want to convince people through science, philosophy, logic, religious principles, and by practical behavior. We train our members not to have any illicit sex, not to eat meat, and not to take any intoxication including tea, coffee, cigarettes, and not to gamble. If the world leaders take Krsna consciousness movement as genuine, then it will be followed by others. People will understand that devotees are very honest men of character, high knowledge and God consciousness. That will make our movement successful.
