Guest guest
BHAKTIVEDANTA LEADERSHIP NEWSLETTER Workers in Ignorance In the scriptural injunctions we find what sort of work should be performed and what sort of work should not be performed. Those who do not care for those injunctions engage in work not to be done, and such persons are generally materialistic. They work according to the modes of nature, not according to the injunctions of the scripture. Such workers are not very gentle, and generally they are always cunning and expert in insulting others. They are very lazy; even though they have some duty, they do not do it properly, and they put it aside to be done later on. Therefore they appear to be morose. They procrastinate; anything which can be done in an hour they drag on for years. Such workers are situated in the mode of ignorance. Bg 18.28 P Editor's Note Why we don't do what we know we should do? Does this sound familiar: "You know, I am incredibly busy right now. In fact, I feel about as busy today as I have ever felt in my entire life. To be honest, a lot of the time I just feel overwhelmed. To be really honest - given what is going on at work and at home - sometimes my life feels out of control. But, you see, I am working on some very unique and special challenges right now. I think that the worst of this will be over in four or five months. After that I am going to take a couple of weeks and get organized. I am going to start working on my personal development. Then I am going to start spending some more time with my family or on building relationships. I may even start my "healthy lifestyle" program. After that everything is going to be different - and it won’t be crazy anymore." Have you ever thought or spoke like this? I did - for many years! I have learned a hard lesson trying change my behavior and improve my life. There is no "couple of weeks". Sanity does not prevail. Look at the modern society. There is a chance that tomorrow is going to be even crazier than today. Why don’t we do what we know we should do? We are waiting until life isn’t completely crazy, or we are waiting until we "have some time". My suggestion is for us to ask a couple of bold questions. What change is going to make the biggest, positive difference in my life? What am I willing to change right now? Not next week, not next month, not when I have more time - now! Take one thing and improve it now. Don't worry about the rest. * Your questions or comments are welcome at BLC (AT) pamho (DOT) net *
