Srila Prabhupada:

 

"This food distribution program is to done very, very nicely as I have

already written in my last letter. Generally people make a plea that why are

there so many hungry and naked. So we invite all hungry and naked people to

come to us and we will give them food AND CLOTHING and Krishna Consciousness

as well. This will attract the general public and there will never be any

shortage of food-stuffs, so continue regularly. In Bombay there are many

generous persons who like food distribution programs, and actually, our

temple be the via media for feeding the poor with food and spiritual

knoledge. Our Bombay program should be based on giving Krishna Consciousness

through the English medium and distribution of prasadam without

discrimination. This will enhance our prestige and will accelerate our

spiritual life as well. ..." (letter april 1972, Srila Prabhupada

Siksamrita)

 

"One thing is, I have just now heard from Gurudasa that the American

government agency which is providing us the foodstuffs for Mayapur is

prepared to give us much, much more provided we fully utulize what they have

already given. And I am infored by Gurudasa that the distribution program in

Mayapur is not very widespread. Why you have neglected this very important

program? I want that you shall distribute prasadam at least to hundreds of

persons daily, and advertise very quickly all over Nadia Province for people

to come there and take prasadam daily without charge. Otherwise the whole

thing is a farce. We have worked so hard for so long to get this foodstuff

donated by your government and now we are neglecting? And if you expand this

program to THEIR satisfaction, they will give so much more of different

varieties of foodstuffs AND WE CAN EXPAND THIS PROGRAM WIDELY THROUGHOUT

INDIA and become very much popular with the people as a whole. ... "(letter

to Bhavananda, 1.8.72)

 

We can see from this that Srila Prabhupada had a big vision of transforming

wellfare-activities into preaching for the whole world.

 

Of course he made priorities, especially when there were less resources:

 

"You can arrange to supply prasadam only to our devotees. We are not in a

position FINANCIALLY to distribute foodstuff for poor class of men. Such men

may take shelter of some charitable institution. AT THE PRESENT MOMENT, we

are not in a position to make charities ... "

 

So it is clear that the vision of Srila Prabhupada is to do

prasadam-distribution (and even clothing) world-wide as soon as it is

possible effectivly. This would make people favourable to

Krishna-Consciousness and the transformation of the world would go on very

nice.
