Pastimes of Lord Jagannath...

These historical Deity forms of Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra have been

here at least 500 years and we shall try now to narrate some of Their

pastimes, for Lord Jagannath is sometimes very active.

 

1) Lord Jagannath goes for walks

 

Before we had this temple, the old temple was under the nearby mixed banyan

and pepul-tree, and the local people living in the first house here said

that Lord Jagannatha would go for walks, they never actually saw Him, but

they could hear Him, especially Saturday nights. They would see a glow

coming from the temple and sweet scent would permeate the air. They could

hear jingling sounds, like that of ankle bells. Those fortunate residents

understood that the independent Lord was taking stroll.
