Guest guest
Dear Prabhus. I changed the name of "Prabhupada Research (Discussions & Conclusions)" to "Prabhupada Siddhanta Study Group (with Conclusions)", as per advise of Hari Sauri Prabhu. It is a free conference. The purpose of this conference would be to discuss different subjects, which may not be clearly defined in ISKCON, in order to come to some conclusions. I hope, that during discussions, we will find some system, how to understand contradictory statements in Srila Prabhupada's teachings. Lets take for example discussion, that was going on in "Krsna Katha" regarding charity and prasadam distribution. There was plenty of information. How to form a conclusion? There is no "yes" or "no" answer. But in one situation certain quotes are valid, and in another situation other quotes are valid. If we could find out which situations are connected to which quotes, then we would get nice conclusion. It would say that in such situation you do like this, in another situation you do like that, in another situation you do like that. And appearantly contradictory quotes would come out as each presenting its part of the bigger picture. There are many philosophical points to discuss, like for example, Guru in ISKCON, position of women, daiva-varnasrama, understanding of ISKCON Laws, yukta-vairagya, ... There are practical points, like braking fasts on festival days, adjusting Srila Prabhupadas books for wider public, new-age and philosophy in ISKCON, academics, asociation of non-devotees, ... There are plenty of interesting modern social subjects to discuss too, like homosex, divorce, feminism, ... This is just some subjects that crossed my mind. Maybe other members can add their thoughts too. ys gnd
