The results coming forth from both the intellect and the mind are signs of

activity. Matter is dull and inactive, only spirit is active. Therefore,

the material brain or any other material organ cannot produce anything

substancial on its own, they can only be instrumental. The Supersoul, who is

spiritual and the active principle behind every material manifestation, is

the ultimate cause of all activities and is the cause of all essential

qualities in everything manifested.

Matter in itself cannot produce anything on its own, nor does it manifest

any qualities without being touched by the spiritual energy. In this

material creation, it seems like matter has some qualities and is moving,

but in reality this is all done by the spiritual energy which manifests

itself through matter.
