PAMHO AGTSP! i am from India and i also heard this stuff in my chidhood but after I took shelter of Srila Prabhupada books these things went out of mind without my knowledge and I have relished many parts of mahabharat many times without facing any problem. someone also offered me a mahabharat serial on VCD and i am keeping it in my home and at times watch also. it causes no problem to me... Rather it reminds me of Lord Krishna's wonderful activities and His pure devotees' unflinching faith in Him and their surrender at His lotus Feet. Lord Krishna is the center of Mahabharat and wonderful devotees like Bhishmadev, Mother Kunti, Maharaj Yudhisthir, the famous warrier and Lord Krishna's friend, Arjun, to whom Lord spoke the message of Bhagavad Gita, and many other great personalities are part of it. How can it be inauspicious and creating conflict? Vyasadeva wouldn't spend so much time in writing a purana which will creat conflict in homes! at least I don't think it can, and for sure, to me it didn't . Yes, perhaps it can , for those who follow duryodhana, shakuni and company, but those who follow the great personalities mentioned above, for them it's all auspicious. this is how i understand it. Of course, as we know mahabharat deals with many mundane things and is not the best of puranas. the best is, undoubtedly, Srimad Bhagavatam, the amala purana. "Wherever there is KŠa, the master of all mystics, and wherever there is Arjuna, the supreme archer, there will also certainly be opulence, victory, extraordinary power, and morality. That is my opinion." (BG 18.78) Srila Prabhupada books ki Jay! Hare Krishna. ys, bbd
