Dear Friend,

 

Hare Krishna!

 

We would like to bring your attention to the celebration of

Shri Krishna Janmashtami at ISKCON Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir at

Shridham Mayapur.

 

Lord Krishna says in Padma Purana:

yatra gayanti mad bhaktah, tatra tishthami narada

"I stay where My glories are chanted".

 

Janmashtami will be celebrated on a grand scale on Saturday August 27, 2005.

Glorification of Lord Krishna will be conducted through the chanting of the

holy sankirtan throughout the day. There will also be distribution of

Bhagavad-gita and mahaprasadam.

 

The following day, Sunday August 28, we will celebrate the 109th Vyasa Puja

of ISKCON's Founder Acarya, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. On

this occasion there will be a Maha-abhishek of Srila Prabhupada, followed by

Maha-arati.

 

Janmashtami celebrations would not be complete without receiving the mercy

of the Lord in the form of prasadam. We will distribute kichuri prasadam to

every visitor to the temple- an estimated 2.5 lakh pilgrims.

 

One plate of kichuri prepared in pure ghee along with sabji and sweet rice,

will cost Rs. 5. So we need to raise Rs.12, 50,000/- ($ 35,715).

 

The Vishnu Smriti states,

"Goddess Lakshmi resides in those who are charitable."

 

You have always been a generous donor. I am therefore approaching you for

help. One thousand donors like your good self donating Rs.1, 111/- ($27) or

more will bring us very close to our target.

 

Since there is not much time left before Janmashtami, I request you to take

a few minutes off your busy schedule and make a tax deductible cheque/DD in

the name of 'ISKCON' payable at Kolkata. Please take the print out of the

brochure which I have attached herewith or visit www.mayapur.info for more

information.

 

For every donation of at least Rs.1, 111/- ($27), I will arrange for you a

special darshan pass on Janmashtami. A special archana will be performed on

your behalf on the Janmashtami morning. This archana will bring prosperity

and success to you. In addition I will also send you a wooden laminated

Janmashtami day picture of Shri Shri Radha-Madhava, along with Janmashtami

mahaprasad.

 

This year we are also offering the opportunity for sponsorship of Silver

Kalash, Conch Shell and Lamps for the Maha- abhishek of Lord Shri Krishna on

Janmashtami night. Please refer to the enclosed brochure for more details.
