My friend and I looked at each other and laughed through each segment.... The play was the incarnations of Krishna. In each one there was bloody slaughter of "demons". We thought, what a violent religion we are in. Of course one of the segments was Paurasarama....killing the excess of, not demons persay but, Ksyatrias. When there is an imbalance the mother earth must create balance. This is the middle planet. Not toooo good, not tooo bad. Gopananda has expressed this scientifcally. Scripture states it in story form so the common man can grasp it. Krishna as Paurasarama is killing human beings. servants of the state, of the king, to create balance. This is part of the planets maintenance. Like it or not. So what to speak of being tortured on the way to Yamaraja by the animals we've hurt. What of the humans? I've spoken to many gurukulis who were beaten, starved, sexually abused by us, the saintly. What happens to us on the way to meet Yamaraj, we who have stood by and done nothing to help???? Cows are wonderful. goats also give milk. What do people have to offer? I think I could live without milk. but not without human contact. I personally was a meat eater when I started visiting the temple. I had much compassion for animals. Being introduced to a new model for eating helped me become a vegetarian.....but I was very interested in the devotees philosophy I read prior to giving up meat. Is Labangalatika inferring that first we must make all vegetarians, and then give them compassion? How will anyone wish to be a part of a dis-compassionate philosophy. Unless they are already without compassion??? obeisances, eka Buddhi
Guest guest
I never said anything about first making all vegetarians, Srila prabhupada taught us Harinama sankirtan and prasadam for all souls. On becoming a devotee we are willing to follow the regulative principles of which the first and foremost is No meat fish or eggs To eat only foodstuff offered to the Lord. .. because eating vegetables and grains not offered to Krsna is also sinful. Unknowingly harming other living entities we have to suffer for it what to speak of knowingly. Animals do not commit sins but we have to be responsible for our actions. Of course all those who abused the gurukula kids will suffer... no doubt about it. This material world is nothing but suffering so compassion means to give other human beings the message of Krsna conciousness as Srila Prabhupada gave to us so they can also find their way out of this cycle of birth and death. By the way we can live , with loss of its great qualities, without milk but not without cow dung to grow our food, Even those who just compost green manure etc admit animal dung is also required ys Labangalatika dasi - Ekabuddh (AT) aol (DOT) com labangalatika (AT) vsnl (DOT) net ; gopanandadasa (AT) (DOT) co.uk Cc: Cow (AT) pamho (DOT) net Tuesday, August 30, 2005 10:14 PM animal torture..human strife In a message dated 8/30/05 2:00:26 AM Eastern Daylight Time, labangalatika (AT) vsnl (DOT) net writes: actually written by gopananda....
