Janmastami celebrations

Dear devotees,please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Sri-Sri Gaura-Nitai.

 

 

 

Hope everyone had a nice Janmastami and prayed for their spouses and

children if any to get the mercy of their Lordships Sri-Sri RadhaKrsna and

the Guru Parampara. Without that my Guru Maharaja said that our endeavours

will take time.

 

My wife and children( son 17 and daughter 13) helped out during the

Janmastami celebrations. They loved doing the devotional service because it

provides so much happiness immediately. The problem I have it getting them

to be fixed up in chanting and accepting the philosophy wholeheartedly.

They still believe in the hindu thing that the quest for love of Krsna can

go side by side with other things such as chasing material desires.

 

One thing that my Guru Maharaja said is that we have to be there for our

spouses and children without getting attached to them and being an example

of a devotee. When they see that this person is sticking to his principles

but at the same time also is there when we need him but does not allow us to

impose on him nor imposes on us then there will be a change of heart. I am

trying to do that and am seeing the results.

 

Sometimes in KC, because we compare ourselves to all the couples or families

who are fully Krsna Conscious we think " Oh! if only my partner were as good

as some of the others I see, then life would be so easy, I would be able to

concentrate more and love Krsna more and do more things." But that negates

the feelings and position of our partners and they feel they are being

pressurised to accept something which don't fully understand or believe or

have faith in. Ultimately we will not be able to give anyone Krsna

Consciousness, last of all those who know us and have doubts about us or

think that we are the same as we were before coming to KC. Only Krsna's

mercy and grace will change a person through association of devotees. So if

we stand steadfast in our KC and then accept our partner while praying to

Krsna and asking devotees to pray for Krsna while engaging our partners in

whatever little devotional service they can do, Krsna will shower HIS mercy

on us and them.

 

Taste for devotional service will attract our partners as it has this unique

quality of immediate happiness in the heart when one engages in it.
