It's not the > people, "It is not the people"??? What are you talking about the animals or insects from America??? Of course it IS the people! Don't get me wrong, I encourage you in your campaign to eradicate materialism wherever it shows it face in Iskcon. What I am suggesting is that giving a pejorative label to all devotees who happened to have taken birth in America will be counter productive to your cause. Jayadvaita Swami took birth in America as did your Guru Maharaja, are you lumping them in also?. Now there are 300,000,000 of them, and most pride themselves on being "free thinkers". A smart girl like you should use words that more precisely define what you are trying to say. I don't see how the way you are using the term "American" is any different then from someone using a pejorative to lump everyone of a certain race or gender into a convenient package for them to dump on. Not exactly "preaching the glories of the Lord." as you profess you want to do. Although I agree wholeheartedly with the article, I also agree that an official ISKCON publication is not the place for it. I would not publish material like this on www.iskcon.org.uk. Srila Prabhupada voiced many controversial opinions like this about world events, but I don't think *we* can necessarily do so in the name of ISKCON. >There are enough conspiracy theories within "ISKCON" without getting >involved in these larger issues. This pejorative label "conspiracy theory" is used to stifle discussion, but, especially in this case, it is meaningless. Are we talking about the "conspiracy theory" that 9/11 was carried out solely by Mohammed Atta and 20 other "Al Quaida" moslem terrorists? and that the WTC collapsed as a result of kerosene fires? or another one? Two things are for sure: 1. There was a conspiracy 2. 9/11 affects every one of us, all round the World Ys Arjunanatha dasa -- Version: 7.0.344 / Virus Database: 267.10.19/92 - Release 07/09/2005
