Guest guest
Dear Devotees Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!! Here are excerpts from lectures given by Srila Prabhupada on Radhastami : Lecture, Radhastami, Montreal August 30 1968 : Now there is a very nice song. I shall sing if you can play on the harmonium. Yes. This is a R™pa Gosv€m…'s song. (sings) r€dhe jaya jaya m€dhava-dayite gokula-taruŠ…-maŠala-mahite d€modara-rati-vardhana-vee hari-nikuta-vnd€-vipinee vabh€nudadhi-nava-ai-lekhe lalit€-sakh… guŠa-ramita-vi€khe karuŠ€ˆ kuru mayi karuŠ€-bharite sanaka-san€tana-varŠita-carite r€dhe jaya jaya m€dhava-dayite This song was sung by R™pa Gosv€m…. He is the real person, actual person, to understand R€dh€ and KŠa. So he says, "All glories to R€dh€r€Š…." R€dhe jaya jaya m€dhava-dayite. "She's so dear to KŠa." KŠa, everyone is trying to love KŠa, but KŠa is trying to love somebody. Now how great She is. Just try to understand. Everyone, the whole world, the whole universe, all living entities, they are trying to love KŠa. KŠa-prema. Lord Caitanya describes, prema-pum€rtho mah€n. And R™pa Gosv€m… described that "You are distributing kŠa-prema." So kŠa-prema is so valuable, but KŠa is after R€dh€r€Š…. Just see how R€dh€r€Š… is great. Just try to understand the greatness of R€dh€r€Š…. Therefore She is so great, and we have to offer our respect. R€dhe jaya jaya madhava-dayite. How She is? Gokula-taruŠ…-maŠala-mahite. TaruŠ…, taruŠ… means young girls. You'll see the pictures, they are all young girls. But of all the young girls, She is the most beautiful. She is enchanting to the young girls also. She is so beautiful. Gokula-taruŠ…-maŠala-mahite. D€modara-rati-vardhana-vee. And She always dresses Her so nicely that D€modara, KŠa, becomes attracted by Her beauty. Hari-nikuta-vnd€-vipinee. And She is the only lovable object of KŠa, and She is the queen of Vnd€vana. This queen of Vnd€vana... You'll find in Vnd€vana, if you go to Vnd€vana, everyone is worshiping R€dh€r€Š…. R€Š… means queen. They are always speaking, "Jaya R€dhe!" R€dh€r€Š…. All the devotees in Vnd€vana, they are worshiper of R€dh€r€Š…. Hari-nikuta-vnd€-vipinee. Vabh€nudadhi-nava-ai-lekhe. And She appeared as the daughter of King Vabh€nu, and Her companion, Lalit€-sakh… and Vi€kha-sakh…, and the devotees... So on behalf of the pure devotees of KŠa, R™pa Gosv€m… is praying, karuŠ€ˆ kuru mayi karuŠ€-bharite. "Oh, my worshipable R€dh€r€Š…, You are full of mercy. So I am begging of Your mercy because You are so merciful, very easily You offer, bestow Your mercy. So I am begging Your mercy." KaruŠ€ˆ kuru mayi karuŠ€-bharite, sanaka-san€tana-varŠita-carite. Now somebody may say, "Oh, you are so great, learned scholar, you are so great saintly person, and you are begging mercy from an ordinary girl? How is that?" Therefore R™pa Gosv€m… says, "Oh, this is not ordinary girl." Sanaka-san€tana-varŠita-carite. "This girl's description is possible to be made by great saintly persons like Sanaka-San€tana. She is not ordinary." So the lesson is that we should not treat R€dh€r€Š… as ordinary girl, or KŠa as ordinary man. They are the Supreme Absolute Truth. But in the Absolute Truth, there is the pleasure potency, and that is exhibited in the dealings of R€dh€ and KŠa. And R€dh€'s expansion all the gop…s, and KŠa is the Supreme Lord. Thank you very much. (end) Lecture, Radhastami London August 29 1971 : So our today prayer to R€dh€r€Š…... We pray to R€dh€r€Š… because She is the pleasure potency of KŠa. KŠa means "all-attractive." But R€dh€r€Š… is so great that She attracts KŠa. KŠa is all-attractive, and She is attractive (attractor) of KŠa. So what is the position of ®r…mat… R€dh€r€Š…? We should try to understand this day and offer our obeisances to R€dh€r€Š…. R€dhe vnd€vanevar…. tapta-k€ñcana-gaura‰g… r€dhe vnd€vanevar… vabh€nu-sute dev… pranam€mi hari-priye Our business is "R€dh€r€Š…, You are so dear to KŠa. So we offer our respectful obeisances unto You." tapta-k€ñcana-gaura‰g… r€dhe vnd€vanevar… vabh€nu-sute dev… pranam€mi hari-priye [i offer my respects to R€dh€r€Š…, whose bodily complexion is like molten gold and who is the Queen of Vnd€vana. You are the daughter of King Vabh€nu, and You are very dear to Lord KŠa.] R€dh€r€Š… is hari-priy€, very dear to KŠa. So if we approach KŠa through R€dh€r€Š…, through the mercy of R€dh€r€Š…, then it becomes very easy. If R€dh€r€Š… recommends that "This devotee is very nice," then KŠa immediately accepts, however fool I may be. Because it is recommended by R€dh€r€Š…, KŠa accepts. Therefore in Vnd€vana you'll find all the devotees, they're chanting more R€dh€r€Š…'s name than KŠa's. Wherever you'll go, you'll find the devotees are addressing, "Jaya R€dhe." You'll find still in Vnd€vana. They are glorifying R€dh€r€Š…. They're more interested, worshiping R€dh€r€Š…. Because however fallen I may be, if some way or other I can please R€dh€r€Š…, then it is very easy for me to understand KŠa. Otherwise, manuy€Š€ˆ sahasreu kacid yatati siddhaye yatat€m api siddh€n€ˆ kacid vetti m€ˆ tattvataƒ [bg. 7.3] If you go by the speculative process to understand KŠa, it will take many, many lives. But if you take devotional service, just try to please R€dh€r€Š…, and KŠa will be gotten very easily. Because R€dh€r€Š… can deliver KŠa. She is so great devotee, the emblem of mah€-bh€gavata. Even KŠa cannot understand what is R€dh€r€Š…'s quality. Even KŠa, although He says ved€haˆ samat…t€ni [bg. 7.26], "I know everything," still, He fails to understand R€dh€r€Š…. R€dh€r€Š… is so great. He says that... Actually, KŠa knows everything. In order to understand R€dh€r€Š…, KŠa accepted the position of R€dh€r€Š…. KŠa wanted to understand the potency of R€dh€r€Š…. KŠa thought that "I am full. I am complete in every respect, but still, I want to understand R€dh€r€Š…. Why?" This propensity made KŠa obliged to accept the propensities of R€dh€r€Š…, to understand KŠa, Himself. These are, of course, very transcendental, great science. One who is advanced in KŠa consciousness and well conversant with the €stras, they can understand. But still, we can discuss from the €stra. When KŠa wanted to understand Himself, He took the tendency of ®r…mat… R€dh€r€Š…. And that is Caitanya Mah€prabhu. R€dh€-bh€va-dyuti-suvalitam. Caitanya Mah€prabhu is KŠa, but He has accepted the propensities of R€dh€r€Š…. As R€dh€r€Š… is always in feelings of separation of KŠa, similarly, in the position of R€dh€r€Š…, Lord Caitanya was feeling separation of KŠa. That is the teachings of Lord Caitanya, feelings of separation, not meeting. Sri Sri Gaura Nitai ki jai!!! Sri Sri Krsna Balarama ki jai!! Jai Jai Sri Radhe Shyam!!!!!!! P.S.
