Guest guest Posted September 16, 2005 Report Share Posted September 16, 2005 There are many exceptions, but the general rule is to spell out numbers that begin a sentence, whole numbers 1-100, and whole numbers followed by "hundred,thousand,hundred thousand,million," etc. Another way to think about it: spell out (with the exception of the hundred thousands) any number that takes two or fewer words to say.
