I will be busy with many formalities and won't have time to get back to you til things are wrapped up. I do have ALOT to say...For the benefit of the donors , I will elaborate on his passing... Kushakratha prabhu was not one to take help from anyone and he somehow took care of himself until about 2 months ago. He colapsed and crawled to his door and called for the MVT guard to help him as he could no longer stand up. After that he allowed both me and Baladev Vidyabhusana prabhu to take care of him. It was nice for him to have Bala as Kushakratha prabhu was very eccentric and fussy and Bala has already his PHD in servantology, so it was a no-brainer for him. Soon Kushakratha Prabhu became completely bedridden and accepted any suggestion to make things easier for the care-givers. He eagerly donned his adult Diapers (the Ghandhi look) and gave his nurses easy shifts as possible. Only twice did he need 24 hr shifts for a while. He was very alert up until yesterday and always asked me to describe which stage he was entering and how to deal with it. He wanted to know all his options and always made sound KC decisions about his pro! gress. WHen offered a throat pipe or feeding tube he listened to the whole report from the doctor and then said, "I don't want that, thank you." just the same way you'd answer a flight attendant asking you if you wanted a soda or something. He rose every moring at 1am to compose his poetry right up to the last few days and asked that his poems be scanned and placed on the internet for whoever wanted them. When Baladev and I had our own health challenges, he tolerated our less-than-par service and slower attendance. THe Lord sent a young man from South Africa, Adiras, to help us and although he had never done anything like this at all, he went fro kindergarten to PHD in three days winning his "brown stripes" and proved to be a noble assistant. By Krsnaa's amazing grace, a devotee from LA, Vedaparvataka prabhu, had come to Vrindavan for the first time in his life- he had been in the bhakta prgram in San Diego in the early seventies under Kushakratha prabhu, his bhakta leader. N! ow he had the opportunity to render service to him. Veda came every morning during the Bhagwatam class and sat with Kushakratha hearing the radio broadcast of class and then they would chat while K drank his breakfast of milk. Baladev had already moved in with K. and last night he had been up all night serving Kushakratha who was feeling excessively restless and uncomfortable, but without any pain. After Veda's morning visit, K. asked for his picture of Radharaman to be put in his bed so he could see him closely and for the 24hr kirtan to come. We all arrived and while there was a nice class of Srila Prabhupada, we assembled the photo, Giriraj at his head and the lotus foot imprints of Srila Prabhupada at the head of his bed. Since he was no longer communicating, we called the dovctor who said that he would leave today. The kirtan party arrived and Veda came to sit with him. He left just before 4 pm very peacefully with the lovely sounds of Aiendra's kirtan swelling t! he room. Ruparaghunatha prabhu and Syam Krsna organized the proceedures and because it was nearing sunset, he was taken with 20 men by the Food For Life van to the Yamuna after circumnambulating the temple. Everyone present felt the elevating experience of sharing a departure of a great soul. MANY MANY Thanks to everyone who participated in any way in this moving event. This is how it should be for everyone- and now, because you started the CARE wheel, it will be. If we can just keep this going, then everyone, no matter if they are "wellknown" or not will receive the VIV treatment ( Very Inspiring Vaisnava) and have the care they deserve- either here or wherever they choose. FLY GOLOKA!!!!! BE A PART OF IT!!!!!!
