Guest guest
Dear Hari SAuri prabhu, Since you felt it necessary to copy this to the Free Forum, etc. I am obliged to comment by email, though I would have rather spoken to you directly about your concerns. > Does the Mayapur Vikas Sanga intend to continue distributing condoms > as part of its "social work." SMVS received a large grant for Community Health from the United Nations Development Program. The core of the program was establishing Self-Help Groups (SHG) of village women for handling small savings and micro-credit as well as health credit funds, etc. The UNDP requested SMVS to assist the GOvt. Health workers in getting their free condom distribution connected to the SHG leaders. The goals are HIV/AIDS prevention and family planning. Considering the fact that 100% of the funds for the workers involved was coming from the UNDP, the SMVS director at the time felt he was obliged to cooperate with their request. As of March, the UNDP program is complete and so SMVS is no longer involved in condom distribution in any way. For those who are interested, I attach a document describing the mission and philosophy of SMVS. Your servant, Pancaratna das
