Dear Devotees,

 

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

The yearly bhagavat katha at the end of the year in Pune conducted by H.H.

Lokanath Swami has shown to be quite successful. A couple of thousand of

devotees/guests are attending the katha daily and there is good scope for

preaching and book distribution. It also gives the devotees the good

opportunity to end the year and start the New Year with absorption in Krsna

katha, contemplating on the pastimes of the Lord, remembering the Lord,

associating and taking prasadam with devotees, etc.

 

This year the schedule of the katha is as follows.

 

24th December: Shobha yatra in the afternoon.

 

25th - 31st December: bhagavat katha by H.H. LOKANATH SWAMI

 

Morning session 8:00 - 9:00 am: Caitanya-bhagavat katha

Evening session 6:00 - 9:00 pm: Srimad-bhagavat katha

On the night of the 31st of December (New-Year's eve) a big Maha Harinama

will be held in the city of Pune. Last year about five thousand

devotees/guests attended this harinama. Since it was very crowded, many

lakhs of people heard the kirtan of the holy names of the Lord. In the same

way we want to end the year 2005 with chanting the Holy name of the Lord

together with all the assembled devotees and start in an auspicious way with

the year 2006.

 

On the first of January the first Sunday New Year's festival will be held.

 

During the katha H.H. Lokanath Maharaja will be singing a lot of bhajans,

which will be recorded and made available on CD's and cassettes. Maharaja

will be assisted in this by a team of kirtan devotees with professional

musical skills. The katha in Hindi will be available on MP3 and VCD/DVD.

 

Dramas based on the topic of the katha will also be performed daily so that

the audience can contemplate more one Lord Krsna's lila.

 

Since the whole organization of the katha has been improved, this year we

are expecting at least 5,000 devotees/guests attending the katha daily.

Accommodation facilities will be available for those who want to stay

overnight. Full prasadam will be served after the kathas in the morning and

evening. Devotees who will be staying overnight are requested to inform us

in advance so that we can make proper arrangements for everyone.

 

There are opportunities for devotees and guests to sponsor the katha, like

for arati or prasadam.
