Guest guest
Posted by Yaduraja on Nov 30, 2005: Dear Ramakanta Prabhu, PAMHO, AGTSP, I think half our problems may be linguistic. It’s my fault since I have made absolutely no effort to learn some Swiss and at least try to meet you half way. My apologies for that. I did give a definition of the word ‘establish’ when you asked for one, but maybe it was not clear. I only ever meant ‘set up’ and did not mean to infer a reason for WHY Srila Prabhupada set things up like that, only that he did set things up like that. Anyway I am happy to accept your re-wording of point a) to the following: 1) Srila Prabhupada was the sole diksa guru for ISKCON from 1966 to 1977. 2) Srila Prabhupada set things up that way in 1966. Ok so we agree on something, Jai!! Now to point b) ...er now what was point b) again I forgot? Oh yes: b) Srila Prabhupada never ordered that he should ever stop being the diksa guru for ISKCON. So point b) is basically saying that we are proposing that the status quo remains the same as it was between 1966 to 1977. In order to support this position that nothing should change with regards initiation within ISKCON I am putting forward our paper ‘The No Change In ISKCON Paradigm’ which explains this in full and can be found here: http://www.iskconirm.com/no_change_in_iskcon_paradigm.htm So if you think it a good idea you can go through this position paper, line by line, and each time you come to a statement you do not agree with we can discuss it. But this paper is basically supporting point b) that Srila Prabhupada set things up in a certain way, and never told us (the institution of ISKCON) we could change anything, including the procedures regarding initiation. Best wishes Ys Yadu
