Guest guest
Mahadyuti prabhu and all other exalted prabhus, Dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada as an "old timer", I am certain that you would agree that the reason that quotes from Srila Prabhupada regarding dress code for men are hard to come by is because formerly non Vaishnava dress in ISKCON was unthinkable. It was therefore a non issue from the days in which devotees first began wearing dhotis and kurtas. A person who did not dress in Vaishnava clothing, even after repeated contact with ISKCON, was certainly considered a way out there fringee, and consequently was, to some degree, shunned, at least in terms of any kind of VIP privileges such as leading kirtan or giving class. All Prabhupada disciples remember what ISKCON used to be like in terms of strictness. But, in the name of reform, modernization, or spreading of Krishna consciousness, classic ISKCON standards are sometimes endangered in the name of staying in step with society and not being up tight or prudish. In this way, everything will be lost, for the very regulative principles we are supposed to follow are very, very "prudish", aren't they--at least in the "liberal", non devotee book. The main point is that evidence is scarec because we all dressed properly, both men and women. Let us stick with the standards we all know Srila Prabhupada wants.
