Guest guest
Dear Malati Mataji. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for clarifying the details behind the covering of head for matajis, especially for explaining difference of rules for married and unmarried. Also I accept your statement, that "male species", as you call them, are responsible for behavior of matajis, or "female species". As we learn from Srila Prabhupada, woman is allways to be protected by men, either father, husband or son. This has to do with woman being subordinate, and even less intelligent, as Srila Prabhupada explains several times. For example, husband controls the activities of his wife, similar to purusa and prakriti. It seems that men are responsible for upholding tradition, and when men are gone, or become useless in performing their duties, irreligion becomes prominent in society, and that is reflected in behavior of women. If men would behave properly, and take care that their wives behave properly, then we could say, that we nicely take care of each other. Then phrases like "love and trust" would reveal to us their higher meaning. Much can be concluded on the basis of questionable behavior of ladies in society. Just like strength of husband and father can be valued by observing behavior of his wife and children, similarly strength of society leaders (husbands, fathers, managers, gurus...) of our movement can be valued by observing behavior of our youth and ladies. Especially, since it is popular to say, that society is as strong as its weakest member (taken from example that the chain is just as strong as its weakest link). your servant Giri-nayaka das > > In a message dated 12/6/2005 , Giri-nayaka.BVS (AT) pamho (DOT) net writes: > > and constantly uncovered head > > > They system for covering heads is reserved for married ladies. Guest guest
Dear Malati, Dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Touche! Thanks for the spicy input! Free speach is still alive, thank God. I wonder how much more time we are going to waste on these typese of issues? It certainly seems that becoming fully Krishna Conscious is more important, with respect for all living entities, regardless of species or gender. Later on, agitated young men in saffron decided everyone female, married or not, from the age of birth should "cover their heads" (falsely thinking that this act would relieve them of their agitation). Thus you had little tiny female children with big cloths safety pinned on their small heads, what to speak of anyone older. But, in its original version, the head was first covered at the time of marriage (it was/is part of the marriage ceremony) and thereafter. While you are going on about the women, please tell some of the male species to cover their revealing rear ends, as well as their naked torsos and chests. "get tough"? I'd say, welcome to 2006, "get real." ----------------------- To from this mailing list, send an email to: Prabhupada.Disciples-Owner (AT) pamho (DOT) net Makhanlal Das
