Actually these instruction are meant for everyone. Are you not ashamed of thinking that these things are only for you? O Uddhava ! I am issuing different instructions like cultivate knowledge, perform activities, engage in devotional service, practice mystic yoga and undergo austerity for the benefit of all living entities though I am speaking directly to you. Will you simply engage in those activities ? Your relationship with Me will continue the way it is now. But at present you have no qualification to practice all these items. Sri Krsna Joking with Uddhava in this way and explained to him that some living entity becomes eligible for karma, jnana and bhakti according to his different status. Because it is only Me who knows the purport of the vedas. It was Me who appeared from the four mouths of Brahma in the form of the vedas. This is being described in this verse. The word Jiva in this verse means the Supreme Lord who gives life. The most glorious Lord is speaking here with firm conviction while touching His chest with His point finger. The word ' vivara' means the basis in the form of Brahma's body. The vedas have manifested from the womb of Brahma's body. The word 'ghosa' means the transcendental sound vibration. This sound vibration along with the life air entered into the heart of Brahma and manifested in the form of vedas composed of short and long vowels and consonants of different intonations.
