Guest guest
My Dear Isvara Prabhu, Please accept my obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. As we have seen from these discussions about the Laws of ISKCON, yes you are right in saying that there has been a deficiency in divulging information about them, to devotees in general. The Laws of ISKCON not only should show the purpose of the organization but also delineate the rights and duties/services of devotees within that organization. This, of course, is essential for any organization to function properly. Now, Mother Malati dd has informed me that the Laws are being reviewed and will be "online" on their own page, which will help their distribution. I think that immediately devotees in different places should translate them in different languages and seminars should also be given to educate the devotees as to said Laws. How you can work within an organization without knowing it's rules, restrictions and purposes? It is absurd. If we do a test, for example, within the GBC Body and Gurus (not counting of course the devotees who worked on the new Laws revamping) of knowledge of the Laws of ISKCON you will find that the overwhelming majority of the GBC do not really know so much about them. The reason that things have been proceeding without utter chaos has been because the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, basically define how to do things, and the GBC has, historically, used this criteria to define their own functions. However, as an organization grows, it must be more structured and have procedures in place that will support the devotional service of it's members, defining their roles in said organization. Many of us are hoping that this new endeavour to disseminate information about the Laws of ISKCON will educate the body of devotees and our leadership, to work in a more structured way to spread Krishna Consciousness properly all over the world. It will not replace, of course, spiritual potency, but it will at least give the devotees confidence in our basic organizational structure so that they will, at least, have a little faith in Srila Prabhupada's Movement and know what their rights and duties are, as devotees.
