Guest guest
Dear Yaduraja Prabhu, PAMHO. AGTSP! > Ok I got you. > ... > Clearly I did not make a straw man argument since you have just made the > very same assertion. I am not sure if you got me. I guess you see no difference between following two statements: "Srila Prabhupada announced that he will stop being the sole diksa-guru for ISKCON." "Srila Prabhupada announced that he will stop being diksa-guru for ISKCON." Is it like this? Why? > If you withdraw your accusation we can return to arguing over point a) > again since you have gone back on what I thought we had agreed. To not correctly understand the position of the opponent and then to refute what you have understood is also refuting a straw man argument. (From Wikipedia: Present a misrepresentation of the opponent's position, refute it, and pretend that the opponent's actual position has been refuted.) So you have refuted a straw man argument, unintentionally though. This is not an accusation, but just a fact. This is what we agreed: Srila Prabhupada was the sole diksa guru for ISKCON from 1966 to 1977. Srila Prabhupada set things up that way in 1966. Following is unproven: Srila Prabhupada established himself as the sole diksa guru for ISKCON in 1966. ys Ramakanta dasa
