You mean "without them reading it," because I'd say it's a good portion of their duty to get "bent out of shape" if their spiritual master's godbrothers and -sisters are criticizing. Srila Prabhupada had plenty to say about that, and while the circumstances were different, the principle isn't. > > Yes, I've noticed! Guest guest
Pamho, agtSP! As the moderator of the forum "Deteating Atheism" I'm quite disturbed to wake up and see that a lot of text that has very little to do with atheism has been postet in the "Defeating Atheism" forum. Could you please stop that? Otherwise the forum can't be open to anyone. If you think some of these texts has something do with atheism then please tell why and let's keep the discussion to the point - defeating atheism. I must consider many of these posts as a kind of spamming. Or maybe it was a mistake? Are some devotees just using all the open forums to post all their opinions on various subjects? I'm sorry! You may characterize it as "criticizing," but I'm just addressing situations where we may not agree on some details of a point under discussion, especially details regarding how to apply a principle. For example, Trivikrama Maharaja and I should have a place where we feel free to discuss things we don't (or may not--or may, but we need to hash things out first in order to see that) see eye to eye on without some of his disciples getting all exercised about my committing some offense because I don't immediately submit to him just because he's a couple of years older than I, has been in ISKCON a couple of years longer, or has been in the sannyasa ashram for a really long time. I naturally defer to him because of all these things, and because of his clearly more-advanced surrender. But I also have over 36 years' experience as an aspiring devotee, have read all the books, thought about and discussed many issues with so many devotees, so I also have an opinion on things. And, as it turns out, he and I differ in our understanding of how to apply the details of certain principles. That's all I'm talking about. If I get lippy with Maharaja, or he gets too heavy-handed with me (never happened yet), I'm sure one of our Godbrothers or -sisters would straighten us out. While we're discussing such things, I'd be remiss if I failed to point out that Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita makes a very clear point about the way we relate to our gurus' Godbrothers (and -sisters, by extension). Mahaprabhu Himself sets the clearest of examples with Ramachandra Puri, and we rationalize ignoring or minimizing that instruction at our peril, and, frankly, to the detriment of our mission. Yours in service, Babhru das
