Guest guest
Srila Prabhupada in Moscow On different occasions Prabhupada would speak of the quality of life in Russia. Prabhupada once spoke of his visit with Professor Kotovsky in Moscow. After finishing his conversation with the professor, Prabhupada asked him to call a taxi. Professor Kotovsky apologized and said that it would be impossible to get a taxi. Professor Kotovsky then personally accompanied Prabhupada to the door and showed him a shortcut back to his hotel. Prabhupada explained that from this incident, he could understand that the people of Russia were unhappy. He said that in no other city in the world had he seen so many people walking in the street. Prabhupada then related how on his entering the Soviet Union, customs agents discovered a Bhagavad-gita among Prabhupada's possessions. Immediately a customs agent called the police. Prabhupada thought he would be arrested, but by Krsna's grace the policeman did not consider the book dangerous and they let him go. Prabhupada said that the people of Russia are always under suspicion and that it is a poor, fearful, and wretched country because they deny the authority of God. Damodara dasa, interview; lecture in Stockholm, September 7, 1973. Srila Prabhupada would use this story to illustrate the foolishness of accepting some points of the Bhagavad-gita while rejecting others. If you reject any part of the Bhagavad-gita, then the whole thing becomes invalid. The Gita is absolute and every part of it is true. - From the Prabhupada Nectar by HH Satsvarupa dasa Goswami Maharaj _________ Photos – NEW, now offering a quality print service from just 8p a photo http://uk.photos.
