Guest guest
"When Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura retired from public life, it was clear that among his many sons, disciples, and followers, only Sri Siddhanta Sarasvati could carry forward the mission he had started. Only Sri Siddhanta Sarasvati was sufficiently learned, dedicated, and bold to confront and dissolve the myriad confusing philosophical misconceptions that threatened to multiply uncontrollably if left unchecked. Yet by necessity Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati's tactics had to differ from those of his venerable father..." In the above, from a discussion of apparent differences between Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, both pre- and post-sannyasa names of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati are used. The pre-sannyasa name is appropriate for the specific period being referred to in that section (i.e. just after Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura retired from public life). But the post-sannyasa name is appropriate in reference to his tactics, which he continued to employ after accepting sannyasa and until his disappearance. I am informed that this mid-paragraph change of name from pre- to post-sannyasa may be considered by the reader as a lapse in careful editing. Comments?
