Guest guest
Pamho, agtSP! I just want to say a few statements about this topic. I think one point has been overlooked in this discussion. And that is: Are there any dangers when people associate ISKCON with "normal" yoga? This atmayoga covers the real purpose of ISKCON as far as I can see. Correct my if I'm wrong. As I understand the point with this yoga is to more or less hide or cover up that the teachers are from ISKCON. The teacher teach things are are not recommended by the bhakti sastras with the aim of attracting people who are interested in yoga-asanas, meditation and whatever. When the teachers have developed a relationship with the students they start to introduce things from KC. As I see it it's a danger that people start to think that we think this yoga is good, when we actually want to get to the point os rejecting it. Then when someone who have seen or tried our atmayoga-courses comes and hears us preach against this kind of yoga then it's kind of wierd. And what if new devotees starts to think that this is part of our process? It can give ISKCON a very wrong image. And what will scholars say about our methods? We are actually lying to people to attract them - or at least we cover the truth. But that's also lying in Vedic terms. I don't know, maybe this kind of yoga can be taught without covering the truth, but what about our ISKCON-image? I not sure what I mean about all this, but right now I don't think it should be an ISKCON-thing. t should be done privately by devotees. Prabhupada was very concerned with the image of ISKCON, and therefore many things were not allowed. Anyway, I haven't thought this trough and my opinion is not final. I'm open to arguments. But let's say that I'm sceptical. Ys, AKD
