There was an interview in an edition of Life magazine from 1968 with

Gopal Godse. Godse, the brother of the actual murderer, was jailed for 20

years for his part in the conspiracy. He had just got out in 1968 and Life

published a lengthy interview with him. He also categorically stated that

that Gandhiji didn't utter anything when he was shot. He simply gasped and

fell to the ground dead. Godse was standing only four feet away from him at

the moment and thus, like the personal attendant, he was in a position to

know first hand what happened.
