Guest guest
Realizations Tosana Krsna once designed some brochures and posters advertising the devotees' traveling rock opera. He wanted to show the materials to Prabhupada so that he could converse with his spiritual master. Tosana Krsna approached Prabhupada with the advertising materials. Included was a poster showing the Vaikuntha planets and Krsnaloka, as depicted on the cover of Srimad-Bhagavatam. In an effort to flatter Prabhupada, Tosana Krsna told him that the cover was actually Prabhupada's idea. Prabhupada looked at Tosana Krsna and said, "Why my idea? This is coming from sastra." Then Prabhupada asked, "Are you chanting your rounds?" Tosana Krsna said yes, but he felt some disappointment. It took him several years to realize that Prabhupada could not be distracted from his duty as spiritual master or from his concern for the spiritual life of his disciples. In Dallas, Garuda hoped to hear Prabhupada give the Bhagavatam class. Before class Prabhupada chanted Hare Krsna. On this occasion, Srila Prabhupada kept chanting and chanting Hare Krsna from the vyasasana. Instead of giving the class, Prabhupada kept chanting and chanting on and on. Garuda then realized that the sole purpose of Prabhupada's mission was to spread the chanting of Hare Krsna. He realized that the chanting permeated Prabhupada's whole life, and that the only reason Prabhupada traveled was for the chanting of Hare Krsna. Prabhupada used his time perfectly in Krsna's service. He had a specific time for everything -- for receiving his mail, for getting up, for eating, for talking, for receiving guests. He did not waste a second. In Los Angeles, Prabhupada would give his disciple, Aniruddha dasa, letters and packages to mail. Once, after getting into the car, Prabhupada noticed that his letters had not been posted. He had Aniruddha stop the car at the mailbox so as not to miss the pickup time. The packages had to be the proper weight -- just under the next rate level. By organizing his daily affairs so carefully, Prabhupada could maximize the amount of work he could perform in Krsna's service.
