Dear devotees

Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to the lotus feet of Srila

Prabhupada.

Soon the UK based academic publishers Tauris Books will be publishing a new

book called "40 years of Chanting". It is a positive slant on ISKCON and was

compiled in observance of ISKCON's 40th anniversary. (1966- 2006)

The book is an edited collection of essays written by two types of author:

(1) academics who have previously published seminal papers on the Hare

Krishna movement and (2) devotee-writers, some of whom are also scholars

holding an internationally renowned publication record for their writings

about the Hare Krishna movement.

Tauris Books have approached Bhaktivedanta Manor to see if any ISKCON

distributor companies or shops would be interested in taking on a number of

these books. Here at the Manor, we will probably take a certain amount for

our shop. However, we are somewhat limited and need to give Tauris Books

other contacts.

Are there any useful contacts for Tauris within and beyond the ISKCON world?

Please let me know their details.

More about the book:

Current trends and developments within the movement are key in the book,

with attention to ISKCON today being the common thread linking the essays.

The essays explore a wide range of different themes and issues, including

inter alia the politics and history of the Hare Krishna movement; current

membership patterns; recruitment strategies and practices; pedagogical and

social factors currently impacting on or shaping the Hare Krishna movement;

the importance of dreams and ritualism in the religious lives of many of

today's adherents; as well as the movement's articulation of traditional

theology.

I look forward to your reply.

Your servant
