Guest guest
This is not new news. This has been the situation for many years, more than 30 years and definitely during Srila Prabhupada's physical presence. Some mrdanga-makers may be scrupulous but how will you find them? Most (if not 99%) do not care from whom they acquire the skins and the fact is that the mrdanga-makers have always procured the skins from 'mucis' who deal with the bodies and skins of dead animals. Obviously Hindus would have nothing to do with such things. I think that to find a 'scrupulous' muci or muslim who gets his skins from cows who have died a natural death would be next to impossible. The only alternative - which those devotees who raise cows should have been doing 30 years ago - is to keep the skins of their own dead devotee cows and take them to the mrdanga-makers.
