The passing of Sri Rama dasa

I wrote this at the time and somehow it was not sent. But it is never too

late to glorify a devotee, so I am sending it now..

 

 

Please accept my obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

I first met SriRam Prabhu when he joined the Radha Damodara bus party where

I was the so called leader.. He was a great help and a great friend.. He

expertly took care of the the accounts and lent his musical expertise to the

harinam party, which was sorely in need of help. All the while he was a

good friend and always encouraged me in spite of my deficiecies.

 

Later, he formed the "Education Ministry" for the GBC and asked me to be one

of the charter members. That was in 1991. He was working tirelessly

with great compassion and concern for the welfare of the children.. He

drafted and pushed through all the resolutions for the prevention and

punishment of child abusers.. In my opinion most of the credit for

whatever progress has been made in that area should go to Sri Ram prabhu,

and I know that Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krsna will not forget him for that

selfless endeavor.

 

He was a very intelligent devotee, and he worked hard in spite of great

health problems, and a very difficult first marriage.. After the first few

years the "Education Ministry" developed much more and I was no longer

involved. I feel fortunate that the Sri Ram Prabhu allowed to take part in

that pioneering work. He was always very kind and I never heard him

criticisiing other devotees, but rather he was taking positive action to

improve the overall situation..
