Guest guest
Dear Trivikrama Maharaja, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thank you for your letter concerning distributing prasadam and help to people in catastrophy areas. Since Srila Prabhupada repeatedly changed, added etc in his quotes, it might be worth the while to think about how he might have reacted hearing about Indrayumna Swami´s successful project helping the Tsunami victims, and to hear how appreciated his service was not only by the local people, but also by the police etc. If you have not read his writings, I will be happy to send them to you if you would like. Excuse me, but I honestly cannot understand what the problem is. Why not let devotees distribute prasadam to these suffering people if they are inclined to do so? Why should the GBC waste their valuable time deciding on who deserves to get the mercy and who deserves not? Give devotees the freedom to engage in devotion according to how they feel is necessary and important in the world, and you might be surprised at the results. Thank you, your servant Sita dd. PS!Since I do not know if you read the quote by Bhaktivinod Thakura U am ading it as you may find it interesting. Bhaktivinoda Thakura on Charity "Those who think that devotion to God and kindness to the jivas are mutually different from each other, and perform accordingly in their life, such persons will not be able to follow the devotional culture. Their performance is only a semblance of devotion. "Therefore, all the types of beneficence to others, like kindness, friendliness, forgiveness, charity, respect, etc. are included in Bhakti... Charity of medicines, clothes, food, water, etc. shelter during adversities, teaching of academic and spiritual education, etc. are the activities included in the devotional culture" (Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Sri Tattva-sutram, 35)
