Guest guest
The Srimad-Bhagavata Vidyapitham in Govardhana is looking for a general manager. Here are a synopsis of the project's current progress and a job description: The Vidyapitham is a school sponsored by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust International, Special Projects Division. The purposes of the school are to train Sanskrit translators and editors for the BBT, promote deep study of Srimad-Bhagavatam, help devotees learn to function as brahmanas in ISKCON, and for the accomplishment of these main purposes teach proficiency in reading and speaking Sanskrit. In its initial phase of operations, the school is offering a three-year Bhagavata-sastri program, the students of which learn the Sanskrit grammar of Srila Jiva Gosvami and are trained how to read the Sanskrit commentaries on Srimad-Bhagavatam. This program will begin for the first time on October 1, 2005, at the Vidyapitham's campus in Govardhana. The program's four teachers are already in place and are currently working on developing in detail the curriculum and teaching methods. A fifth teacher is developing a coordinate introductory program in Mayapura. No tuition is being charged, and the students who participate in this three-year program are being maintained for the duration free of charge. Apart from the teachers who are also students, thirteen other students have been enrolled and intend to be in Govardhana by October. Our teachers and students, all ISKCON devotees, coming from twelve countries, have been carefully selected. The school already has a functioning brahmacari asrama with eight residents at present, and twenty expected beginning October. A regular ISKCON Deity worship and sadhana program is being maintained. The asrama has an asrama commander and a devotee cook. Funding for the school is being arranged by the BBT Special Projects Division. We have assurances of adequate funds for ongoing operations and for carrying forward the plans of purchasing land in Govardhana and building a permanent campus. The organizer of the school is Gopiparanadhana Dasa. He is responsible to Gopala Bhatta Prabhu, head of the BBT Special Projects Division, and is currently running the project together with Arya Siddhanta Prabhu, the asrama commander. The Vidyapitham is in immediate need of a mature, experienced devotee to accept the responsibilities of the school's general manager in Govardhana. Supervise the upkeep of the school's facilities and the engagements of support staff--cook, driver, and purchaser, and so on. Arrange for purchases of equipment and supplies. Take care of the immediate need to find a suitable interim location in Govardhana, until the permanent campus is built, for the school's operations and for housing twenty brahmacaris, needed to be ready by October 1. Recruit additional staff when necessary. Organize the school's banking, accounting, and budgeting. Select land in Govardhana for purchase, arrange the purchase in consultation with the BBT Special Projects Division, have architectural plans made in accordance with vastu-sastra principles, and organize and supervise construction. Look into the possibilities of academic affiliation and accreditation. Organize preaching, including book and prasadam distribution, in Govardhana and Mathura city.
