Both guru and disciple examine each other before initiation

"A sincere disciple should also examine his spiritual master for one year,

just to appreciate his glories. He should carefully observe the activities

of his spiritual master and constantly engage in his service, with utmost

faith and attention. Similarly, a spiritual master must carefully examine

the qualifications of his prospective disciple"
