Sri Venkatesvara suprabhatam

 

(early morning wakeup prayer)

 

1. Kausalya supraja Rama purva sandhya pravartate

Uttishta Narasardula kartavyam dhaivamanhikam.

 

O Rama, son of Kausalya, the sun is about to rise in the eastern

skies; please arise to offer the early morning oblations.

 

2. Uthishtotishta Govinda Uthishta Garuda dvaja

Uthishta Kamalakantha trilokyam mangalam kuru.

 

Arise, O Govinda, the holder of flag with Garuda emblem; Cast aside

your sleep to bestow your protection and solace to the universe.

 

3. Matahas samasta jagatam Madhukaitavareh

Vaksho viharini manohara divya murte

Srisvamini sritha jana priya dana seele

Sri Venkatesa dayite tava suprabhatam.

 

Sri Lakshmi, mother of the world, you reside in the heart of

Mahavisnu; O beautiful one that captures the attention of the minds of

humans, O bestower of all benefits to those who fall at His feet, O

dear and beloved one to Lord Venkatesvara, I offer these morning

Pranams to you.

 

4. Tava suprabhatam aravinda locane

Bhavatu prasannna mukha candramandale

Vidhi Sankarendra vanithabhir arcite

Vrisha saila natha Dayite Dayanidhe!

 

O Devi, good morning to you whose eyes are like the lotus and the

bright face of the full moon; the consorts of Brahma, Sankara and

Indra pay their respects to you, the ocean of mercy dear to the Lord

of the Vrishabadri.

 

5. Atryadi sapta rishayah samupasya sandhyam

Akasa sindhu kamalani manoharani

Aadaya Padayugam arcayitum prapannah

Seshadri sekhara vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

O resident of Sehadri, the seven holy rishis headed by Atri, having

performed their morning sandhya, are at your feet offering beautiful

lotuses and the waters of heavenly rivers. Please receive them.

 

6. Pancananabja Bhava Shanmukha Vasavadyah

Trivikramadi caritam Vibhudas stuvanti

Brhaspathih Patathi vasara suddhim aarat

Seshadri sekhara vibho thava suprabhatam.

 

All the Gods from Brahma, Shiva, Shanmukha and others are praising

your TriVikrama avathara, Brhaspathi, the Purohita of Devas is reading

out the Pancangam (almanac), O Lord may this morning be glorious.

 

7. Ishat praphulla sarasi ruha narikela

Pugadrumadi sumanohara palikanam

Aavati mandam Anilas saha divya gandhaih

Seshadri Sekhara Vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

O Seshadri vasa, the morning scene is beautiful with the tossing of

water lillies, coconut trees and transplanted young paddy fields, the

morning breeze is blowing carrying pleasant smells, good morning to

you,

 

8. Unmilya netrayugam uttama Panjarasthah

Pathrava sishta kadaliphala payasani

Bhuktva salilamatah Keli sukah patanthi

Seshadri sekhara Vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

O Venkatesvara, the temple parrots are singing pleasantly after having

tasted the fruits, payasa in your Puja vessels and quenching their

thirst; I pray for a good morning to you.

 

9. Tantri prakarsha maduras svanaya Vipancya

Gayat yanantha caritham tava Naradopi

Bhasha samagram asakrit kara cara ramyam

Seshadri Sekhara Vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

With his melodious musical instruments sage Narada is singing your

endless stories set to music and dancing to the enchanting music with

lovely hand gestures, may this morning be beautiful.

 

10. Bringavali ca makharanda rasaani viddah

Jangara gita ninadhais saha sevanaya

Niryatyupanta sarasi kamalodharebhyah

Seshadri sekhara Vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

O Lord of Seshagiri, the swarm of bees from the lotus flowers of the

nearby tank have come out after tasting the honey and carrying

makharanda pollen, waiting for your Darshan.

 

11. Yosha ganena varadadni vimatyamane

Goshalayeshu dadi manthana tivra goshah

Roshat kalim vidadate kakhubhasca kumbah

Seshadri sekhara Vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

O Lord, the milk maids are churning their curd pots and are singing;

the two sounds are competing with each other. May this morning be

glorious to you.

 

12. Padmesa mitra satha pathraga thali vargah

harthum sriyam kuvalayasya nijanga Lakshmya

Bherininadhamiva bibhrati tivranadham

Seshadri sekhara vibho tava suprabhatam.

 

The friends of the bees are trying to steal away the bluish brightness

of the flowers and the sound of the drums. May this morning be

glorious to you.

 

13. Srimannabhishta varadakhila lokabandho

Sri Srinivasa dayaika sindho

Sri devata griha bhujantara divya murte

Sri Venkatacalapathe tava suprabhatam.

 

O Srinivasa, bestower of all desired boons, closest kith and kin of

the universe, ocean of compassion, O Lord of charming beautiful form

in the abode of the gods, let this morn bring glory to you.

 

14. Srisvami pushkarinika plava nirmalankah

sreyorthino Hara Virinca Sanandanadyah

Dvare vasanti vara vetra hatottamangah

Sri Venkatacalapathe tava suprabhatam.

 

Having taken their holy dip in the Svami pushkarini, gods like Brahma

and Siva and sages such as Sanandana are waiting at the door for your

Darshan with their hands raised holding the rattan cane (for

controlling the crowds). Glorious morning to you.

 

15. Sri Seshasaila Garudacala Venkatadri

Narayanadri Vrishabhadri Vrishadri mukhyam

Aakhyam tvadiya vasateranisham vadanti

Sri Venkatacalapathe tava suprabhatam.

 

Glory to you, O Venkatesa, whose abode is being described incessantly

in the holy books as Seshacala, Garudacala, Venkatadri, Narayanadri,

Vrishabadari and Vrishadri.

 

16. Sevaparah Siva Suresa krisanu dharma

Rakshombunatha Pavamana Dhanadhi nathah

Baddanjali pravilasan nija sirsha desah

Sri Venkatacalapathe tava suprabatam.

 

O Lord! Desirous of serving you, Siva and Indra with their heads bowed

and Kubera, the lord of wealth, and the protectors of the eight

directions (dikpalakas) with their hands tied in front in reverence

are waiting for you.

 

17. Dhatishu te Vihagaraja mrigadhiraja

Nagadhiraja gajaraja haydhirajah

Svasvadhikaramahimadhikam arthayante

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

Venkatesa, seeking your benevolent look of approval Garuda and other

leaders of your retinue are jostling for your first look to enhance

their supervisory authority. Good morning to you.

 

18. Suryendu Bhauma Budha Vakpati Kavyasauri

Svarbhanu Ketu divishat parishat pradhanah

Tvaddasa dasa caramau atidasa dasah

Sri Venkatacala pate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Lord, the overlords of the nine planets (Sun, Moon, Mangala, Budha,

Guru, Shukra, Sani, Rahu, Ketu) are ready waiting to offer you their

service.

 

19. Tvat pada dhuli parita spuritottamangah

Svargapavarga nirapeksha nijantarangah

Kalpagamakalaniah aakulatam labhante

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

Your devotees having been purified by the dust of your feet are

serving you with intense devotion forgetting their real interest in

Moksha and doubting whether they could get this opportunity in their

next birth or not.

 

20. Tvad gopuragra sikharani nirikshamanah

Svargapavarga padavim paramam srayantah

Martya manushya bhuvane matim aasrayante

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Venkatesvara, people who came interested in Moksha samrajya look at

the Vimana (crown) of your temple and want to serve you in this

earthly abode forgetting what they came for.

 

21. Sri Bhumi Nayaka dayadi gunamrutapte

Devadideva jagadeka saranya Murte

Sriman Ananta Garudadhibhir arcitangre

Sri Venkatacala pate tava suprabhatam.

 

Morning wishes to you Srinivasa; You are the lord of the Mother

Earth (Bhumi), you possess innumerable auspicious qualities like

compassion, Lord of all Gods, the only refuge of the universe and

waited on at your feet by Nityasuris (eternal companions) like Ananta

and Garuda. Good morning.

 

22. Sri Padmanabha Purushottama Vasudeva

Vaikunta Madhava Janardana Chakrapane

Srivatsa cihna saranagata Parijata

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Padmanabha, Purushottama, Vasudeva, Vaikunta, Madhava, identified by

your insignias of Srivatsa and the disk (cakra) in your hand, You are

like the havenly Parijata tree in granting the wishes of those who

surrender at your feet. Good morning to you.

 

23. Kandarpa darpahara sundara divya murte

Kanta kucamburuha kudmala lola dhrishte

Kalyana nirmala gunakara divya kirte

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

Your divyamangala vigraha is so beautiful as to vanquish the pride of

Manmatha (Cupid), You are renowned in the worlds for your blemishless

auspicious qualities and you cast your blossoming eyesight on the fine

parts of Mahalakshmi. Good morning to you.

 

24. Meena krite kamatakola Nrisimha varnin

Svamin Parasvatah Tapodhaa Ramacandra

Seshamsa Rama Yadunandana Kalki rupa

Srivenkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Venktesa, you have helped the world by your ten avatars like Matsya,

Kurma etc. Good morning to you.

 

25. Ela lavanga ganasara sugandhitirtham

Divyam viyat sariti hema ghateshu purnam

Dhrutva adya vaidhika sikhamanayh prahrishtah

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Venkatacalapati, brahmins with vedic chants are waiting upon you

with pots of Akasa Ganga water scented with cardamom, clove and other

spices. May this be a glorious morn to you.

 

26. Bhasvanu deti vikacani saroruhani

Sampurayanti vihagih kakubho vihangah

Sri Vaishnavas satatam artitha mangalaste

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

The sun has risen and flowers have opened their petals; the chirping

of birds is echoed from all directions. Sri Vaishnavas are waiting

singing your praise. Let this morning be glorious to you.

 

27. Brahmadayas sura varas sa Maharishayaste

Santas Sanandana mukhas tava yogi varyah

Dhamantike tava hi mangala vastu hastah

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Venkatesa, gods like Brahma, sadhus and yogisvaras like Sanaka and

Sanandana, are waiting at your gates bearing auspicious puja items.

Morning glory to you.

 

28. Lakshmi Nivasa niravadya gunaika sindho

Samsara sagara samuttaranaika seto

Vedanta vedya nijavaibhava bhakta bhogya

Sri Venkatacalapate tava suprabhatam.

 

O Lord, the abode of Lakshmi, the ocean of good qualities, the only

boat to cross the ocean of samsara, the true knowledge sought by

Vedanta (Upanishads), the lord of true glory enjoyed by devotees,

glory to you.
