Guest guest
Dear Daya Sagara Prabhu Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Yes. It is certainly true that Srila Prabhupada said on many, many occasions that they have not been to the Moon. He based his reasoning for this on the description of the positions of the sun and moon and planets in the Srimad-Bhagavatam which he accepted as an actual description of the universe. At the time such an idea, "We have not been to the Moon," was quite outrageous, and devotees even left Prabhuapda's movement because he said that we have not been on the Moon. Much time has passed since 1966. Now it is almost 2006 so that means almost 40 years since the supposed Moon landings. Now a very large percentage of the population of the US do not belive we have ever been to the moon. There are so many anamolies in the photos, the films, and so many discrepencies that make it appear to any thoughtful person that the whole thing was staged for political reasons. So the point is after 40 years we have never been back to the Moon and even now we have the strange statement of the US president: "Washington -- Saying America is ready to take the next step into space, President George W. Bush Wednesday called for retiring the space shuttles by the end of the decade and building a new vehicle capable of returning astronauts to the moon and eventually taking them on to Mars." In case you havn't notticed at the present point in time the USA is not capable of puting a man into space in anything at all. All they have is the space shuttle and since the challanger blew up that has been grounded. They are talking about launching it again but it is being delayed and delayed due to technical problems. And I am sure you are aware that all the space shuttle really does is fly above the earth some 250 miles above the earth. Considering the earth is aprox 8000 miles in diamater you can see that the view from that distance does not allow one to see the edges of the earth, nor does it allow one to see the earth as a sphere. The only real practical work they do with the space shuttle is to launch satelites in earth orbit which are also not very far away from the earth. The interesting point is I was just at one of the biggest NASA bases and speaking about this mission the President has given NASA of "returning" to the Moon by 2015. They have no idea how to do it... Something thay apparently did many times in the sixties with ancient technology, now forty years later, they have no idea how to do it. They can not even safely launch the space shuttle which just flys a few hundred miles above the Earth. They think the moon is about 240,000 miles away. They can not even put the space shuttle up in an earth orbit at about 240 miles and bring it back down safely, yet they will have us believe that in the 60s they sent all those apolo missions to the moon and returned safely. A round trip of close enough to 500,000 miles. They apparently successfully sent many missions to the moon in the 60s and travelled this half a million miles in space. And they can't even travel reliably 250 miles in 2005? Can you not see that there is something really wrong with this picture. Why is it so hard for them to go to the moon now if it was done so many times successfully in the 60s. It just does not add up. If they had been to the moon in the 60s there would be no problem in going there now. Every aspect of technology has improved so much since then. So this in itself is proof that "we have not been to the moon." Chant Hare Krishna and be happy! Your servant Madhudvisa dasa
