Guest guest
Dear Friends, Attached is a fact sheet on the Kazakh situation. It divides the crisis into different sections so that it is easier to understand and present to government or human rights persons in your countries. It was prepared by the crisis team in London headed by Gauri and Romapada prabhus. The situation at the farm has not changed. Families moved their belonging out of their homes due to fear that a demolition may come at any time. We have had no response from the Kazakh government other than to say that it is a civil issue and has nothing to do with religion. I request you all to look at this interview which was recorded by Channel 31 Kazakh televison on April 25, 2006. http://www.palaceofthesoul.com/media/interview/RyskulZhunispayeva320x240.mov The lady being interviewed is Ms. Ryskul Zhunispayeva the chief expert of the Karasai District Hakimat's Department of Internal Politics. She supervises religious matters in Karasai Rayon. The interview was taken for Channel 31, Kazakh language broadcast, on April 25, 2006. The TV station edited it and showed parts. But, this is the original unedited material expressing what she wanted to communicate to the Kazakh nation. It has been translated verbatim. ............................................................................. "I think that the religious assembly of these people that we face today is illegal. These people took advantage of the economically unstable situation in the country to unlawfully occupy vacant plots of land in the horticultural association Ptitsevod. As far as religions are concerned, they can exist freely in our country. There are four world religions: it is our Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism. And they also consider themselves a religion, the society of Krishnaites, but as Krishnaites they are not accepted even in India. We have facts that confirm that. Therefore their activities on our Kazakhstani land are illegal. There is a Law of religious freedom in Kazakhstan. Besides, the number of different sects is growing in Kazakhstan. Our citizens of Kazakh nationality get there - those who are not satisfied with something in their lives. When we ask them, "Why did you go there? Kazakhs never betray their nation and religion," they would not admit that they are Kazakh, from the Kazakhstani land. These sects lead the Kazakhs away from Islam. I think that this is very dangerous for our descendants, for strengthening our Kazakh traditions and culture." ............................................................................. This official is the district adviser on religions. We have trying to explain to Astana that this is the mentality of the local level. But we only get the response that there is equality of religion in Kazakhstan. Please help us to keep our farm in Kazakhstan. Please contact religious organisations, human rights organisations, the foreign ministries of your nations and request them to contact the Kazakh government with a request to review our situation in a more just and democratic way. Your prayers are the support which is giving us the strength to continue in this struggle. With affectionate regards, BB Govinda Swami
