Guest guest
Pranams Manvantar The British are starting to realize that there is a lot of discrimination in this country from authorities against foreign people or foreign culture. It is in their DNA to be against non-Christian cultures. The status quo means more or less to be a "good Christian" and therefore anything that is non-Christian suffers from the delays, inefficiency or apathy from the bureaucrats. "They could not get a Permit" is a very popular fact. Present authorities prefer to give permits to "Christian" groups even if their behaviour is violent rather than peaceful, colorful, enlightening and beautiful Yatras. However, in this country we have the advantage of having a huge Hindu community, which have a lot of weight to persuade the authorities in allowing the Ratha Yatra to go ahead every year. The British Yatra had already the Ratha Yatra in London and I heard that it was very successful. Jai Jagannath. Natabara Das
Guest guest
Hi Natabara & gjlist enthusiasts Concerning the Ratha Yath in LA I heard an update that the reason Devotees could not permit is because the city is building something on the site in Venice Beach where the Festival is held. The City usually issues a permit every year for a whopping $10,000. Although we have our share of religious persecution here in the US I don't think that was the issue in this case. It is true that there seems to be favoritism towards Christianity but they have they have their cross to carry also. I don't hold any grudges against Christians. Christ was a pure devotee/son of God and didn't he say " Forgive them Father for they don't know what they're doing". The bottom line is things are always gonna be topsy turvy in "Kali Yuga" where the blind lead the blind. A bunch of dogs & hogs get together and elect the biggest dog. But that doesn't mean we just have to stand passively and keep a stiff upper lip. I must say it was impressive when British Government tried to close the ISKCON Temple Bhaktivedanta Manor several years back and over 10,000 Hindus took to the streets in protest.
