Guest guest
sometime ago someone had asked for any data on trials. This is justone, but the trial is fairly unusual as there is one trial but twoseperate jurys. The two defendants (teenagers at the time of thecrime) are beingtried at the same time, but have seperate counsel and seperate jurys. The charge is robbery and murder - the death penality is being asked. There were three victems, the empoyees of a PizzaHut, the manager, ateenage boy and young women. The crime took place on Janurary 17, 1999 sometime between 9:37pmand10:30pm, mostly around 9:40pm, in Tucson AZ USA.Jury selection began on Moday August 21, 2000 @ 9am in Prescott AZ-the trial had been moved because of excess publicity andpublicfeeling. It was scheduled to start on August 24, 2000 @ 9am, Prescott AZ USAThe first jury was seated at 9:11amThe second jury was seated at 9:13am. The judge was seatted and begain precedings @ 9:15amAfter giving various instruction, jury #2 was excused while openingstatements for the first defendent begain @ 9:51amThe second jury was brought back in @ 1106am and openingstatmentswere @ 11:08am.After the lunch break, both jurys and the judge were setted @ 2:12pmand the first witness, which both jurys heard, was called @ 2:14pm.Whoever it was who wanted the data on trial, please let me know ifyou want any more info. I believe the trial would be considered to start when the openingstatements were heard, giving the two defendents different charts (Ihave not had a chance to even look at these charts yet). Both defentants admit being there, but claim they did not know theother one was going to suddenly start shooting people (both wereaware the other had the semi-automatic with them),and were in fear oftheir life as well.Interestingly, the two jurys are seated accross - facing - each other.
