Democracy is "mob rule" which is not a wise format for governments of any kind. Mr. Clinton gained Presidency with 43% of the people's vote, by the way. Not my vote, either! Mr. Gore touted that he was the inventor of the Internet. Maybe the American people owe him the most powerful position in the Western world on account of that accomplishment, and Mr. Gates should continue be hounded by the administration whose 2nd highest office is currently occupied by Mr. Al Gol, er, I mean, Al Gore! Guest guest
Dear Andrew, > I have just learned that Al Gore actually has won more of the vote than George Bush. I have no real idea how the system works over there but Bush has his brother in charge of Florida so if there has been a bit of skullduggery or misleading ballot forms I wouldn't be surprised. I wonder how Bush can say he has a mandate from the people with less votes. I hope your mailbox isn't stuffed in comments from the American voters but I felt compelled to comment on a few points of yours. I read your posts with delight especially the mars/venus thread. :-) Our elections are decided on a State by State basis and not on a Federal system as the founding fathers saw us as a federation of states where the power is held on the state level. If you look at it that way Bush has won 29 states and Gore has won 20 states with 2 states still undetermined , Florida b/c it is still too close to call and Oregon b/c their voting is down by mail. Because some states or much larger and heavier populated some states are allowed more votes in the electoral college. The number of votes per state is equal to the number of congressional representatives plus the number of senators, which is always 2 per state. It is a confusing system ,but it's written into our constitution so it can't be changed w/o a constitutional amendment. As far as the ballot confusion it is only one county in Florida that there is some confusion. Palm Beach County, where most wealthy New Yorker go to live in their retirement. B/c most Palm Beach residents are elderly and visually impaired. They wanted to make the print bigger and b/c there were many party canditates to fit on one form they had double rows of candidates names and a single hole to punch in the middle, if one was elderly and visually impaired there may have been some confusion as to which hole to punch, but OTOH all ballots are published and approved publically beforehand. In PB county Buchanan, the one some may have mistakenly voted for, only received 3400 votes. So even if all these votes were in error unless the final recount comes out to less than a 3400 differential this is a mure point. If you are interested, I've been getting the polling data from www.cnn.com . They have all the votes tallied state by state and county by county. Hope you don't mind my comments. Best Wishes, Karen > > I feel better today as I was simply looking at the charts of Bush and Gore in a two horse race and if Gore got more votes then Vedic astrology is not incorrect. I was looking in particular at positions of planets from the Moon showing the minds of the masses and in reality, the masses did favour Gore. The system to select President of course works differently and I should of cast a chart for America but I don't know the details. > > Somebody has mentioned lagna lord in the 12th house and its results. I have lagna lord Saturn in the 12th house with Ketu in Capricorn. This makes me far more comfortable with foreigners and in foreign countries than with my own people. Ancient texts have said it shows somebody who wanders in foreign countries which in my case is very accurate. Mentally speaking I feel this is a bad position with lagna lord in a hidden house of self undoing. It can give spiritual interests and an interest in foreign religions, cultures and people. In some cases it can show what was once termed a "secret sinner" but I'm at the stage of life where I think every planet is a benefic in some way as the badly placed planets give us the adversity that builds experience and character. > > Too many well placed planets is not good in the long run as real wisdom only comes through hardship. Saturn in particular makes you come up the hard way with struggle. If we truly believe the system of Vedic astrology you only get what you deserve anyway. > > Yesterday our news service jumped the gun and declared Bush a winner. I then thought he must have got more votes so was confused and dissapointed as I was certain Gore would get more support from the people. It was only early this morning that I learned that Gore had actually won the popular vote. Regardless of the American constitution nobody should rule without a mandate from the people. One man, one vote, who gets the most votes wins. I thought that was democracy. > > I had a few long debates with my old Pundit as to the transit of Rahu over Bush's Sun against Gores powerful transits. We both agreed in the end that Gore must get more of the people on his side and should go on the record as predicting this. The Pundit says this Rahu transit although in general is good, it is somewhat artificial and will boost somebody up like a balloon inflating that will burst eventually. > > skinbags > > > > > > > gjlist- > > > >
Guest guest
Sorry list, my political comments were meant to be a private mail to Andrew. Sorry! I try to keep the non-astrological stuff off-list. MY mistake. Karen
