Dear Das

Do not ask me what ephemeris i was reading when i wrote that Saturn goes direct

on 8 February 2001, a mistake of mine, the proper date is 25 January 2001.

Meditating about how i have confronted Loneliness in the past, i remember few

measures which depend on the state of mind and the time to spare.

One time & decided to control my mind by following an strict discipline. I was

almost to the point of talking to the walls and to my own shadow & realized that

i had to do something. I could not go out to meet people because i had a bad

back & could not move too far. I was living far away for people to come to see

me. i did not have telephone either so circumstances were limited. Previous to

that I had the positive experience of living in spiritual ashrams in Europe &

therefore i knew about discipline.

Also, i was lucky to have with me the entire collection of Srila Prabhupada's

books and the books of my diksa Guru Srila Sridhar Maharaj. So, I decided to

chant at least one round of japa (the maha mantra repeated 108 times) and the

Brahma Gayatri everey 2 hours when the mind was at its worst or at least once a

day. Also, i read the 30 + volumes of the Srimad Bhagavatam translated by His

Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada and his 17 volumes of the Caitanya

Charitamrita. Every day I used to read for one hour the Bhagavatam and for

another hour the CC. Just like in ashrams, i used to chant the slokas in

Sanskrit or in Bengali, read the translation word by word, the full translation

and the purport. The CC took me like 93 days to read and the SB 145 days.

After finishing that task my mind became my friend again.

If you have the time or inclination to do the same, i recommend it, it helps a

lot & you learn more & more. And do not forget to take notes while reading, it

helps for further reference later on. I have read both collections 3 times in

the past 27 years, when either alone or with company. The Srimad Bhagavatam is

the cream of the Vedas and describes the structure of the whole creation and the

personality & function of the demigods as well as the Supreme Personality of the

Lord.

For Vedic astrologers the SB is a must in their libraries to understand the

source of vedic astrology and His personality. What other religions hint, the

SB describes in full.

Hare Krishna

Yours in the service of the Lord,

Natabara das
